Welcome to our new home, or shall I say hive. Actually, we're still under the same privately sponsored server. We just made the webpages look nicer and more informative this time.

We are thankful to our Lord for His continuous blessings. Pinoy Beekeepers' Forum is doing well because of the support of our online community members. For almost four years, we work in humbly to educate Filipinos about the wonders and benefit to human health by keeping bees. By creating forums for Filipino beekeepers will make our effort easy to realize. The frequent buzzing of members in our discussion board makes our life even sweeter.

Maraming salamat sa iyong suporta. If you're still not a member of our forums, you can register in our online community and meet our beesy buddies!

Happy beekeeping! ; )

An evening on urban beekeeping

Posted by pinoybee

Wow. What an incredible night! "An Evening on Urban Beekeeping" brought by Apiaries and Bees for Communities (A.B.C.) and the Calgary Zoo went off so smooth on the 26th of March. I would like to thank Eliese Watson for making the event such a success. Although the event was free, the Esso auditorium was packed with more than a 100 people in attendance. Bee masterJohn Gibeau is a great resource person giving solid answers to so many questions! I am glad that this is happening in my area. To quote Eliese, "urban beekeeping in Calgary is happening!" seeing this truly happening makes me and my wife ecstatic. We only hope that this could gather enough support to make this one legit.

Happy beekeeping! ; )

Happy new year to all! PBF is going 4 this year and boy I never thought we're going to last this long. I remember my early days of beekeeping when help is not much around. As what majority of people started beekeeping in the country, I started to learn from conventional method of beekeeping using Langstroth. Conventional beekeeping had been in existence in the Philippines for decades. Unfortunately, beekeeping in the country, whether a hobby or commercially done, is still in infancy. Only few if not any are willing to help each and every beekeeper. Most beekeeper sees one another as rivals and competitors, and treats anyone who's interested in beekeeping as prospective customers, whom they can sell their wares and promise quick and easy money venture. However, the scenario has changed a bit for the past couple of years. Thanks to internet technology, tons of information about honey beekeeping is always available 24/7.

For the past 10 years, I notice a rising number of Filipinos who keeps bees along with vegetable garden at their backyards. This is great because more people in the country are becoming aware, and take responsibility to the food they eat. Also, I take my hat off to few local beekeeping associations that work hard to keep honey beekeeping thrive in the country. Pinoy Beekeepers' Forum has a lot more to do to put honey beekeeping in the mainstream. The help and support of our forum members will surely add another four more fruitful years to our advocacy, or beyond.

Happy beekeeping! ; )
